Some Cyanide and Happiness for you lovelies

Where's my phone? Hmmmm......... Just kidding!!! Have an awesome day!

The Anomaly that is life....

Good heavens it's been a week since I've posted. I thought somehow that this would give me more to write about, that I would have had this profound amount of knowledge and wisdom... but alas, no.

It's been an interesting week in many ways... most of it very good.

Last weekend was my good friend Tom's birthday, and, as per usual with most Capricorns, big celebrations were the order of the day. On friday morning Angela and i set off for Gold Reef City to meet up with Tom and his friends (and I invited the boyfriend, more about that in a little bit).
The whole day was incredible, I have not had that much fun in ages! The rides were very good (Jozi express was disappointing though), my paralysing fear of heights did'nt really affect me (for once), and the sunburn I acquired has since gone a lovely olive brown, as my mediterranean heritage dictates :)

The day was made even better by 'S' (ie the new boyfriend), who made me feel comfortable, and happy all day... even when we tried to get on the ferris wheel and have a cage to ourselves... and the stoopid attendant proceeded to shove three lovely little darlings into our car (Grrrr... not only were we deprived of alone time, but I'm sure the parents of the dears would not have approved of their kids being alone with a randy pair of gay boys), I still felt great. The view of Joburg was breathtaking, and 'S' was there to share it. Okay, Angela was pointing and laughing at us cos of the kiddies from the car above, but it was still good.

So yeah.. conclusion: Gold Reef is still a good place to go for the day... providing you have the dosh. Can't wait for the Tower of Terror to reopen though (this was supposed to happen ages ago... tsk tsk)

The next day was part two of the Birthday Celebrations, which was a Tatum Channing party at Tom's house. I (like a fool) thought Tatum Channing had died or something, but it actually turned out that the party was just a tribute to his sexiness and loveliness... the boy is cute though. I must have looked at my Tatum napkin fort the better part of a minute. That's good looking time for a napkin to recieve, trust me.

The rest of the party was great as well. The people were all lovely, the conversation was always flowing and the food was awesome. Angela started biting people at one point, and even proceeded to give Monique a "knee-job"... and "elbow-jobs" were being given away later as well. Well done Tom, lovely party!!!

The other night I went to Doors with 'S'. Gosh what a great date idea!!! Now chickens, before you go on to think that I am completely insane and have me comitted (especially you silly ones too afraid to even try going to the doors) you must realise that 'S' and I are both rock boys. We both love blur and pearl jam, and find shaved heads and piercings sexy (well i do.. hehe). The music was good, at points, be booze is still wonderfully cheap and the people were friendly enough. And for the first time ever I was at the Doors with a boy! (For those of you who dont know gay culture, Doors music is not generally acceptable...)

At first I'll admit I was a little apprehensive about being affectionate in public, especially at a place like The Doors, but 'S' made me feel so comfortable, and proud to actually be there with him. The boy continues to amaze me... (and with my track record and reputation for being as cynical as I am, that's saying something) And another thing, the people there were fine with it. Okay, we were getting some looks, but we were'nt beaten up or anything! Go team! lol

The rest of the week was pretty uneventful. Went to Oh last night with my friends Angelo and Johan, and was again reminded why I don't like it there that much. There are so many people there that are there for the sex... and have this look of desperation in their eyes.
Or even ones that, due to the superficiality of our gay community have such a low self esteem that they arrive there alone, are too afraid to talk to anyone (I talked to one guy who appeard lonely, he ran away in fright), and then they leave. Alone. And it saddens me. Why does it have to be like that? Okay, I know I'm being idealistic... but it's not fair...

Firstly, I hope I never become like that. Ever. Secondly, it gives the place a vibe of being a 'meat-market', which is a shame, because the normal, friendly people there just looking to make nice friends get lost in the crowd of desperation and sadness... and nobody really becomes friends with anyone. Sad sad sad...

On a happier note I spent the day with my good friend Willie, just chilling and watching dvd's. Chickens, dont watch "Confetti" (wedding movie with rave reviews and a cult following in the UK... God, why? My rating 5/10). Also watched Prime again (rating 7/10). Meryl, you are a goddess and deserve another Oscar... I adore you :)

I have also been working with dad... and have had a large amount of time to consider my career and where I'm heading (so far so good), and time to think of other things as well.

Due to it being holiday time I am trying to avoid having too much time on my hands to think too much... you all know what I'm talking about: When we're not as busy so we become overanalytical about everything. About relationships (I'm getting there), about the people I care about (there... yay), finances (let's not go there), and career (on the way there... still a while to go... sigh). What I'm basically trying to say... I can't wait to get back to varsity!!! I hate this time of year actually. I'm itching to be productive again. I'm itching to be complaining about how tired I am and then dying for a holiday again.

Okay... chickens... rambling now... and off to bed... maybe I should be comitted...

If your life was a movie, what would the soundtrack be?

This is a fun quiz I've seen on a few people's blogs... it's really fun to do, and let me tell you chickens, it seems to know all about you... that's voodoo shit (hehe).

So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...

01. Opening Credits:
Bulletproof, I Wish I was by Radiohead (Actually, that could be a cool superhero power)

02. Waking Up:
Where is My Mind by the Pixies (if I wake up hungover, maybe)

03. First Day at School:
Red Thing Called Love by St Germain (starts off: "Da da da da da da da... waiting here all alone, waiting for my bus to come, my bus ten minutes late, and I can't wait to get home, just to be with you..." Yip, I could'nt wait to leave)

04. Falling in Love:
Sexy by Black Eyed Peas (hehe that's quite funny... "You really got me going")

05. Fight Song:
The Skank Heads by Skunk Anansie (now that is one of the best angry songs ever!!! It makes me want to roar "I are man!!!" lol)

06. Breaking Up:
Talking about a Revolution by Tracey Chapman (okay, this is really weird now... hahaha. "Dont you know you bettter run run run run run run run run run run run RUUUUNNNN" Good stuff)

07. Prom:
Unbelievable by EMF (My prom was'nt even memorable, nevermind unbelievable, but anyway)

08. Life's Okay:
We Will Rock You from the play, We Will Rock You (good play, uber entertaining)

09. Mental Breakdown:
Sorry by The Cranberries (okay, even weirder... this has a creepy vocal intro)

10. Driving:
Fugitive by Bush (hahahaha)

11. Flashback:
Reminds Me Baby Of You off some ministry of sound thingy... (this is soooo weird!!!)

12. Getting Back Together:
Baby Can I Hold You by Tracey Chapman (jeez, I'd like this movie.... never thought I'd be so sentimental though lol)

13. Wedding:
The 8th Operetta from the Spring part of the Four Seasons by Vivaldi (this is getting even weirder now! I'd get married to this... guess it's gonna be a spring wedding, lol)

14. Birth of a Child:
Local God by Everclear (haha, I guess any kid I have is going to be quite the heartbreaker then! hehe)

15. Death Scene:
Rock is Dead by Marylin Manson (okay, that was just too weird... this is voodoo shit)

16. Funeral Song:
Mr Brightside by the Killers (haha that's coincedence)

17. End Credits:
Music is the Victim by the Scissor Sisters (Yeah, that would be appropriate)

Right then, I guess that means I have demons living in WinAmp... hahaha. Try the quiz!!!

What a great start to the new year

Wow. Against all odds (chickens, you shall soon learn that I'm quite the cynic... hehe) the first couple of days of 2007 have turned out to be really fantastic. Today (okay, it being 1:04am now, so yesterday, technically) was such an amazingly chilled day, as was yesterday, that I'm getting increasingly optimistic that 2007 is going to be a good year.

Yesterday I woke up at the ungodly hour of 11am, fantastic for an architecture student used to getting up at 5:30 am... EVERYDAY... had a lovely lunch with Papa`, and spent most of the afternoon reading.

At the moment I'm reading the most fascinating book, "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Saffran Foer, a lovely diatribe of the thoughts of Oskar, a seven year old boy who has lost his father in the World Trade Centre bombings, and his quest to find out more about his deceased father and a key he finds in his father's closet (Oooh, what does the key open? What does it all mean? Who can I irritate along the way in my search for a lock that the key opens?) Okay, I'll admit as I write this I realise that I'm not conveying how interesting the book really is, just read it and find out :)

In the eve I met up with a lovely boy in old Melville. The original plan was to meet at BuzzNine, which turned out to be closed. As did everything else in old Melville. Well, pretty much everything in old Melville... We ended up going to the Xai-Xai Lounge, at the top of 7th aavenue.... very cool, kind of a cool runnings-meets-berlin vibe... and the beers were cheap! Check it out! ;-) Overall the evening was awesome, and the boy made me smile... alot :)

Today I saw my dearest Nicky, one of my best friends from Architecture, for a late lunch at Catz Pyjama's. It was the first time I'd seen her after her ridiculously lovely trip to Europe (London, Brussels, Paris), and I have to say that firstly, I am so happy she's home (my friends must be HERE, where I can love and adore them), and secondly, I am so lusting to travel! (Going to the Drakensburg does not count... which is all the travelling I've done lately). I just need to go overseas... and soon! So, new goal, and a new resolution: Save up enough money for ridiculously extravagant holiday overseas, screw the cost.

This afternoon I went to visit my my my mother and her boyfriend, who are currently housesitting the loveliest of houses in Roosevelt Park for a friend. Mom made a huge dinner, and, as per usual I ate way too much... I feel as though I could be thrown into a pool right now and there would be no way I could avoid sinking to the bottom, and dying. I'd sit there, not moving... nothing...

I also taught mom and Dave how to play Backgammon, my new favourite game. I learnt it a week ago from Angela, who learnt it from Arlene, who learnt it from unknown Bulgarian sources... Could we have another Sudoku-like craze on our hands? Will we soon have backgammon spinoff's that result in electronic backgammon? Will we hear stupid ad's on the radio with bratty little kids begging poor defenceless parents to buy them the latest "Power-backgammon" sets from retarded petrol stations? Thank heavens it's a two-player game so the ramifacations of such a craze would probably be limited... sigh... I like Backgammon.

Ugh, stomach's rumbling now... Mom, you are the best cook ever, but thank heavens you only have an excuse to make that awesome christmas cake of yours once a year, cause otherwise we'd all die from overindulgence and drowning in pools :)

A new year dawns...

Happy new year everyone!!!

So, 2006 has been laid to rest, the godawful New Year's smses have stopped coming, pissed people are safely home and sleeping (and we pray for those who were unfortunate enough to have been driving last night), and we can now make mistakes on important documents by dating them 2006 for the next few weeks....

Yay! 2007 is here!!!

Chickens, I must tell that I'm happy the last year is over. Those of you who know me will know that last year was my first year studying architecture. This was awesome in many ways, in that I really really got huge creative satisfaction out of the degree, have met some of the most incredible like-minded individuals, and now feel that I really am on a path to professional bliss.

However, even though it was first year of the degree, it was so freaking demanding! I cannot tell you how many nights we were up till 5am working on projects, rushing for deadlines, and depriving our bodies endlessly of much needed sleep. Seriously, we'd be given a couple of weeks to design these hectic buildings, and we'd have do so many huge drawings for them... unbelievable. But, the satisfaction of that work is amazing, I have to say.

Which brings me to New Year's resolution number 1:
Do not wait till week 3 to start a 4 week project!!! hehe

Friendship wise 2006 was very interesting as well. Of course there have been the lovely people I have met in architecture, some of whom I have gotten really close to. There's Angela, who I wish was a man, as I know she's my soul mate in soooo many ways :) There's Nicky, who I also absolutely love and adore, and will also always be a dear dear friend to me. And dear dear Darren, the loveliest sweetest boy imaginable. And they'll all be damn fine architects someday. World, watch out!!! hehe

Also, out of varsity, I have some really incredible people. Willie, you are wonderful my boy. Tom, I hope our friendship grows even stronger. And Chermy, conqueror of gorgeous men everywhere, you are my rock! I love you all!

New Year's resolution number 2:
Focus more on the beautiful wondrous friends I have... I'm so lucky to have them.

Love life? Hmmm... Well, it's been interesting as well. I have had two pretty serious relationships this year (one resulting in me failing maths this year... long story, thank god that's over!!! hehe), both quite intense... and dated a few people inbetween, all very nice. I've met someone really nice (and incredibly gorgeous!) recently though, and would like more... but let's see what happens. It's a new year... C'est la vie...
Oh, and seeing as this blog might become fairly public and I am not one for openly embarrassing people, I shall never mention boy's names...

New Year's resolution number 3:
Avoid dating pretentious a**holes... date someone nice :)

Alas bunnies, I have to go and cook lunch for me and dad...

New Year's resolution number 4:
Appreciate dad more, he's incredible!

Have a lovely New Years day, and keep smiling!!!
Hi All

Considering this is my first blog entry, and you are my expectant audience, I suppose I should start by telling you something about myself.I wont bore you with stories of my childhood and growing up (they're quite boring to me actually)... but shall tell you of the ever exciting present.

I'm a 24 year old architecture student living in Johannesburg with my dad. I have awesome friends, of whom you're gonna hear alot about, and I love what I do!

Gosh this is weird... what to talk about first?... Hmmm...Okay, the main purpose of this blog:

There is none really, other than to provide links to past and current projects I'm working on, rant and rave about the world (which I happen to find quite amusing), and to pass some of the time.... I'll talk about topics I find interesting, most likely to be architecture, the arts, and any new or exciting thing I discover...I will update soon... in the meantime, here's some work I've done this year (up until May methinks). Enjoy... and let me know what you think, criticism is welcome (as long as it's not stupid... hehe)
